CT, i.e. “combined transport” or “intermodal transport“ is the logistics solution of the future. It involves combining at least two different modes of transport to produce a quick, efficient and environmentally sensible transport chain – without having to change the transport container in the process.

The aim is to make intelligent use of the benefits of each mode of transport and the free capacity. Moving freight onto rail and inland waterway, for example, takes the pressure off congested transport networks (especially roads). The combinations of road/rail, road/inland waterway and rail/inland waterway are now established as reliable alternatives to solely road-based transport. They help to avoid cost-intensive, time-consuming traffic congestion, save on toll fees whilst simultaneously protecting the environment.
