First cruise ship docks at new pier in bayernhafen Aschaffenburg

The Floßhafen municipal pier in Aschaffenburg has been operated by bayernhafen since 2019. Now bayernhafen has started operating a dedicated pier for passenger ships at bayernhafen Aschaffenburg – with direct access to the Main river.

The MS Excellence Princess was the first floating hotel to dock at the new pier. Anja Bokeloh, Head of Technology & Operations, welcomed the 13-metre ship on behalf of bayernhafen and presented the captain of the ship with a small gift. While the passengers enjoyed their sightseeing trips in and around Aschaffenburg, the Excellence Princess travelled on to the next pier in Frankfurt, where it would welcome its guests back on board.

Thanks to its location near the Werftstraße on the river Main, the pier is perfectly suited as a transfer point for cruise ship operators whose passengers would like to explore the sights in and around Aschaffenburg by bus. This will take pressure off the inner-city piers caused by ship-to-bus transfers and reduce bus traffic in the city centre of Aschaffenburg. Due to its location directly on the Main River, the pier can be used by ships travelling both upstream and downstream.

With docking facilities for passenger cabin ships in Aschaffenburg, Bamberg, Roth, Regensburg and Passau, bayernhafen offers the river cruise sector five locations in Bavaria from a single source.

The MS Excellence Princess was the first ship to stop at bayernhafen Aschaffenburg. While the passengers enjoyed their bus trip, the ship travelled on to the next stop.
