Aschaffenburg, 4 April, 2016.
At the beginning of April, various elected officials of the SPD party met the management of bayernhafen Gruppe to discuss the challenges facing the business location of Aschaffenburg and the future development of bayernhafen Aschaffenburg.

In dialogue with Joachim Zimmermann, the Chief Executive Officer of bayernhafen Gruppe and Klaus Hohberger, the Chief Financial Officer of bayernhafen Gruppe, members of the German Bundestag, Bernd Rützel and Martin Burkert, Chairman of the Federal Transport Committee, Member of the State Parliament, Martina Fehlner, Aschaffenburg’s Lord Mayor, Klaus Herzog, and Mayor Jürgen Herzing, as well as Alfons Mühlrath, Deputy Chairman of the Association of Self-employed Business People in the SPD district of Lower Franconia expressed a great deal of interest in the projects proposed for the federal transport infrastructure plan: the electrification of the port railway line from the central station to the port marshalling yard, the planned deepening of the navigation channel on the River Main, and the development plans for the B 469 and B 26 federal highways.

During a tour of the port, Joachim Zimmermann explained to the guests the role of bayernhafen as site architect and the resulting attraction of new companies to the Aschaffenburg location. Particular focus was placed on the long-term approach to land resources through fixed utilisation periods and the need for long-term planning that this entails.
